Abstract

This article explores how various historical artistic movements have profoundly influenced the development of contemporary graphic design. Through an analysis of five fundamental currents—Impressionism, Cubism, Constructivism, Surrealism, and Pop Art—it examines their impact on visual, conceptual, and functional aspects of contemporary design. The study focuses on the key characteristics of each movement and how these are translated today into elements of composition, color, typography, and visual aesthetics in print and digital media. A qualitative methodology based on comparative visual analysis and documentary review is employed. It also incorporates a critical and personal reflection on the relevance of these influences in the contemporary context. The results reveal a continuous interdependence between art and design, where the visual legacy of each movement strengthens the identity of contemporary graphic design, allowing us to construct solid, relevant, and culturally significant graphic proposals.
